{"id":2506,"date":"2011-05-23T09:06:44","date_gmt":"2011-05-23T14:06:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.superrachelzana.com\/blog\/?p=2506"},"modified":"2011-05-23T09:10:43","modified_gmt":"2011-05-23T14:10:43","slug":"random-bits-on-a-fine-monday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/?p=2506","title":{"rendered":"Random Bits on a Fine Monday"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2507\" title=\"curlygirlstamp\" src=\"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/curlygirlstamp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/curlygirlstamp.jpg 900w, https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/curlygirlstamp-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>\n<ul>\n<li>Summertime humidity has arrived, and with it has come the return of curly haired kids! \u00a0I do love curly hair. \u00a0I wish I had curls \u00a0of my own.<\/li>\n<li>It has been a rough couple of weeks around here due to the extended stay of a couple of \u00a0not-so-welcome viruses. \u00a0The Banana caught both of them first, then I had the stomach virus, then Squirmy caught the cold virus and gave that to me, and YaYa has seemed like she\u2019s coming down with it several different times but then manages to not entirely catch it. \u00a0Regardless, the situation caused us to miss my cousin\u2019s wedding in Omaha, and I spent almost all of the dreary weekend grumping on the couch with a terrible cough and zero energy. \u00a0I\u2019ll be glad when the virus decides to pack his suitcase.<\/li>\n<li>Dr. Peds survived the Fargo half marathon that he didn\u2019t actually train for as much as he probably would have liked to. \u00a0He ran with two friends from medical school and came home with a somewhat injured knee and lots of stories to tell. \u00a0He gave the medal to Mr. SP, who thought it was the GREATEST present ever.<\/li>\n<li>YaYa has also kind of caught the running bug. \u00a0There was a fit and fun race at her school last week, where the 3rd-5th graders run around the track at the nearby high school. \u00a0All the third grade girls from her school ran together, and she came home with a third place ribbon (out of 40 girls) and a T-shirt. \u00a0I was really quite impressed. \u00a0I hadn\u2019t realized that she was a somewhat speedy runner. \u00a0Clearly, she got those genes from her father, and not me. \u00a0I was dead last in EVERY running race I EVER had to participate in. \u00a0We are planning on going to some \u00a0Wednesday night kid races this summer since she seems to like running, and Mr. SP does also. \u00a0He isn\u2019t playing soccer this year for a variety of reasons, but he likes to use his shoes to run really fast. \u00a0I think they will like Wednesday night at the races.<\/li>\n<li>Squirmy has been a bit high maintenance since he got sick. \u00a0He loves to slobber on me at all times and use me for a perpetual jungle gym and grouch about everything.<\/li>\n<li>I think I have the summer schedule figured out on the calendar, and that is a big relief!<\/li>\n<li>In June we are taking a vacation trip to Montana to see some of our dear friends from residency. \u00a0We are super duper excited about this, and we also plan on visiting Yellowstone National Park, which is somewhat nearby where our friends live. \u00a0A couple of years ago our friends sent us a really neat guidebook to Yellowstone National Park that is full of great pictures and lots of terrific information about the sights and features of Yellowstone. \u00a0The kidlets have been pouring over the book. \u00a0It also came with an audio CD that they have been listening to, and they will walk around sprouting all sorts of facts and stories about Yellowstone that I was not even slightly aware of. \u00a0Mr. SP, my volcano lover, is particularly excited to see geysers. \u00a0Although they aren\u2019t actual volcanoes, he loves the idea of seeing them erupting. \u00a0YaYa is a bit worried that Mr. SP will fall into one of the hot springs and die. \u00a0We\u2019ve been talking about how it will be fine if everyone just stays on the boardwalk and is careful.<\/li>\n<li>I had an AMAZING garage sale shopping day last Friday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Summertime humidity has arrived, and with it has come the return of curly haired kids! \u00a0I do love curly hair. \u00a0I wish I had curls \u00a0of my own.
