{"id":2617,"date":"2011-07-01T11:21:01","date_gmt":"2011-07-01T16:21:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.superrachelzana.com\/blog\/?p=2617"},"modified":"2011-07-01T11:21:01","modified_gmt":"2011-07-01T16:21:01","slug":"our-vacation-driving","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/?p=2617","title":{"rendered":"Our Vacation:  Driving"},"content":{"rendered":"<body><p><\/p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2616\" title=\"montanaskystamp\" src=\"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/montanaskystamp.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"450\" loading=\"lazy\" srcset=\"https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/montanaskystamp.jpg 900w, https:\/\/superrachelzana.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/montanaskystamp-300x150.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/>\n<p>I had been looking forward to driving across western North Dakota and eastern Montana on vacation, and it didn\u2019t disappoint. \u00a0Although I am getting fonder of Northern Minnesota\u2019s lush trees all the time, there is nothing like nearly 180 degrees of sky to just clear out a person\u2019s brain. \u00a0It kind of makes me feel like I have detoxified. \u00a0Ahhhhh! \u00a0I love seeing all the beautiful cloud shapes and the colors of the sky. \u00a0Here in Minnesota we only get to see a little patch of blue or grey unless we go down to Lake Superior and then we can only look east. \u00a0I love looking west and watching thundershowers approach, and seeing the clouds stacked up high like super giant mountains. \u00a0The sunsets and the couple of sunrises I got to see were wonderful too.<\/p>\n<p>Because I love driving with a good sky on roads that have hardly any traffic, I got to drive most of the way from Bismarck to Billings and back from Billings to nearly Bismarck, including a jaunt north of Killdeer north of Dickinson to drop off YaYa at horse camp with Grandma Kathy and Auntie Dot. \u00a0I pretty much appreciated the whole drive. \u00a0I love the wide open land and there was even a thunderstorm to watch on our way back through North Dakota in the middle of the night. \u00a0I was happy to take over the car, and then give it back to Dr. Peds to drive through the mountains (which he liked a lot better than the wide open stretch of western land . . . he said the mountain roads were exciting. \u00a0I was clenching on to the door handle with white knuckles all through Beartooth Pass).<\/p>\n<p>And after all that wonderful sky, and the amazing drier landscape with all of it\u2019s juts and dips and rolls, \u00a0I was ready to come back to my lush green, thick forest and cool Lake Superior weather. \u00a0It worked out beautifully.<\/p>\n<\/body>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I had been looking forward to driving across western North Dakota and eastern Montana on vacation, and it didn\u2019t disappoint. \u00a0Although I am getting fonder of Northern Minnesota\u2019s lush trees all the time, there is nothing like nearly 180 degrees of sky to just clear out a person\u2019s brain. \u00a0It kind of makes me feel like I have detoxified. \u00a0Ahhhhh! \u00a0I love seeing all the beautiful cloud shapes and the colors of the sky. \u00a0Here in Minnesota we only get to see a little patch of blue or grey unless we go down to Lake Superior and then we can only look east. \u00a0I love looking west and watching thundershowers approach, and seeing the clouds stacked up high like super giant mountains. \u00a0The sunsets and the couple of sunrises I got to see were wonderful too.
