Sunday Night at the Beach: Submerge for a Cookie Prize

After arriving home from camping and unpacking, some homework and practicing was completed before we ate with our neighbors halfway down the street.  After the food was eaten we headed down to the beach for a quick trip before the sun set and the kidlets needed to hop in bed because the bus comes early in these parts.  My friend is a really great baker, and she happened to bring a container of amazing cookies with her.  Bliss.

Of course every small person there wanted an extra cookie.  They batted their eyes and begged.

My friend, who has pity on small people, made the mistake of saying, “If you completely submerge in the Lake, I’ll consider giving you another cookie.”

She did not think they would actually do it.

Mr. Sneaky Pants looked at her in utter disbelief, and headed straight for the water. Cold water was but a small thing to suffer for the prize of a second cookie. Mmm.  Chilly.

He was barely out of the water with a cookie in his mouth, before The Banana cringed and went for it.

Soon her friend also went in and under.  Our neighbor located towels and blankets, and cookies were dispensed.

Finally one more kid decided to swim like a polar bear.  Four brave souls delighted in a second cookie.  Two kids are blessed with a great deal of common sense.  There was so much laughter.
