Mess of the Week: The Careless Mistake Edition
Usually the Mess of the Week is precipitated by one of the kidlets. This time it might have been me. It probably was me. The moonroof on the van somehow did not get closed, and during the night there were not one, not two, but three thunderstorms with major downpours.
I was practicing my cello the next morning, when Mr. TOF ran in from upstairs. He had been in the office and looked out the window and saw that the moonroof was open. We rushed out. The cupholders were full of water. The seats were drenched. There were large puddles on the floor of the van. I used a broom to sweep water out of the car.
Thankfully the seats are mostly waterproof. The floor was covered with rubber mats that have an edge that collects mess, because there is always plenty of mess in our car, every season. The carpet underneath mostly stayed dry, and most of the water could be mopped up with towels.
Still, this mess was no fun. No fun at all. We left the doors open most of the day, which was relatively sunny and breezy, and things managed to mostly dry out.
