Milk: The New Wine
I don’t drink alcohol for a number of reasons, the first and foremost being that is simply hate that fermented taste. The smell gets me before my tongue gets involved, and when I can taste it . . . yuck!
However, I really, really happen to appreciate a great glass of milk. At our wedding we had a toast with milk in fancy glasses. I drink a glass of milk with most of my meals, and I appreciate every single drop.
Around here, when I’m having a rough time and happen to be at the grocery store, I purchase a carton of fancy organic milk. Truly, I most definitely can taste the difference, and it’s my favorite liquid treat. I’ve never cared for soda. I’m not a coffee drinker either, and while I like tea just fine, it just doesn’t make me happy like milk. I hide the special milk in an obscure place in the refrigerator, and pull it out when I need to feel a little more cheerful. I don’t buy the fancy organic milk very often, usually when I know Dr. Peds is going to be out of town, or sometimes when a set of circumstances really makes me feel sad for one reason or another.
The great thing about milk, is that you can drink a lot of it and there aren’t any major ramifications. On a difficult day I have been known to have five glasses of milk. Sometimes six. Maybe more, because who’s keeping track????
