Hosting through P143

The girls we hosted from Latvia during December last winter are coming back to spend five weeks with us this summer!  They are set to arrive next week, and we are very much anticipating their arrival.

Their situation is very complicated, and there are many complex parts that I just not at liberty to write about in such a public setting.  The story of how they are coming back to our house is just as complex, so there are many things I cannot say here.

But I can share with you how excited we are to see them, how we are counting the days until their airport arrival, and how I plan to envelop them in the biggest hug ever as soon as I see them.  The girls are really excited to be coming back too, and we have lots of fun plans laid out for the next few weeks.

Hosting through P143 has been a great experience for our family.  Our first hosting was not through this organization, but rather through a local adoption agency, and I was so impressed with P143 and their organization, how they prepared and helped the families hosting and operated with the best interests of the visiting kids last winter.  My family has grown so much through our experiences with having kids from other countries in our home.  While there were some really hard days here and there, it has been completely worth it.  The experiences my kids have had have literally changed them forever, and my Mama heart is three times bigger than it was two years ago.

While there is a lot of support by host families for host families, it is always nice when I am searching on the internet and come across other families that have written about their hosting experiences on their blogs, so over the next few weeks you will probably see some posts about about hosting here.  This week I’m hoping to do a little series about a few helpful and practical things we’ve learned from our two previous hosting experiences, so stay tuned.
