Happy Birthday: Mr. Trouble on Feet Turns Seven

Mr. Trouble on Feet chose donuts for breakfast in the bathtub, so one of our host daughters and I made a very quick trip to the bakery early in the morning to bring back a box of yumminess.  There was lots of playing outside and many bike rides in the morning before we went to lunch.  Our host daughters have a very strong love of McDonalds, and Mr. TOF decided it would be fun to eat there.  Happy meals really do make them happy.

After a quick stop at the grocery store for some baking supplies and a helium balloon, the girls and I baked a birthday cake while Mr. TOF watched an afternoon movie.  We decided to open presents and eat cake and ice cream in the middle of the afternoon so that the sugar could be run off a bit more easily.  One grandma sent water guns for everyone, so there was a small water battle, which was perfect for a hot summer birthday.

Mr. TOF basked in the fact that he didn’t have to do any practicing or chores on his birthday.  For supper he wanted pancakes, so we had a small pancake buffet.  (Six kids eat a LOT of pancakes, I’m telling you). Since we had eaten so many sweet things all day long, I was thrilled about Mr. TOF’s choice to go to the sandy beach in the evening after supper.  As soon as we finished clearing the table, we grabbed our beach bag and his new catch game from grandma, and we zipped off in car. There was cold water swimming, sand castle making, and lots of running around until the sun went down and everyone was completely exhausted.  Hooray!
