Easter

It might not have been a perfect Easter. The ground was full of snow and ice. The Banana caught a miserable cold. Peanut Maximus was UP at 5:30 a.m. and ready to GO for the day. We didn’t have string to follow to find the Easter baskets because Dr. Peds was on call and needed a clear path to leave in an emergency. I planned on making chicken for Easter dinner, but in the morning realized that we actually didn’t have chicken in the freezer (but it was OK, we did have ham, so that was Plan B). In a long sequence of very chaotic events we all ended up arriving late to church in two batches coming from two different places and didn’t actually have a place to sit in the sanctuary because we tried something new and attended the middle service that we knew would be the most crowded. The egg hunt was interrupted by a major potty accident that no one predicted since a certain small person had just used the potty.

But it was also an excellent Easter. I got to play piano for a full hour before leaving for super early church since I was up super, super early. Dr. Peds and I snuck off to an early service at a different church where there was plentiful organ and trumpet music, and it was lovely. And the service at our own church was special too. The Banana made me a surprise Easter basket with a lovely purple sweatshirt (I love it!) and flowers, and even a snack! Mr. TOF and Peanut Maximus had so much fun playing with pretend swords. We all had a lovely afternoon nap. We FaceTimed YaYa and the Devious Snail and Grandma Robbie. And of course we had a very lively egg hunt, in the dark and out in the snow, because that’s how we roll around here. The eggs were plentiful and sometimes filled with funny things, along with a lot of coupons that made people happy. Peanut Maximus didn’t really care about what was in the eggs, but oh my goodness did he have fun finding the eggs with his siblings and staying up late to eat ice cream and trade coupons with them.
