What Goes Up Must Come Down

Mr. SP was busy flying his airplane around out in the backyard.  After a bit, I looked out the window, and saw that the airplane and the broom were both stuck on the roof.  There was a sigh of discontent.  He climbed on the kid picnic table, but couldn’t reach it.  He wheeled over the Little Tykes plastic car and tried to stand on it, but the car started to roll away, at which point he let out a wail and flopped around and headed off to his room in a serious state of emotional traumatic discontent.

Then The Banana noticed the predicament, and was sure she could come up with a solution to save the day.  She looked around for a ladder, but couldn’t find one.  She tried pulling up a kids lawn chair on top of the picnic table, but it wasn’t very stable.  She located a plastic box to stand on, but it wasn’t tall enough.  She added some pillows.   It didn’t work.  She tried pulling up the ride-on dump truck, but it was definitely too dangerous to stand on atop the picnic table.  She wandered around the yard and found the ladder behind the toolshed.  But it was too heavy too move, so she decided to abandon the idea of surprising her distressed brother (still wailing away in his bedroom) and enlist his help.

They carried over the ladder.  Mr. SP tried climbing up first, but when he couldn’t manage to use the broom to knock down the plane, he started wailing again.  So she ordered him to hold the ladder and she climbed up, and after a bit of trial and error, she managed to use the broom to sweep down the plane, and all was well with the morning once again.
