Rushing Water

Remember this waterfall from last July?

This is what my favorite neighborhood waterfall looks like today!

Springfalls

The spring melt is happening! The weather for the past four or five days has been beautiful, in the fifties or lower sixties, and everyone is out of their winter abodes. Last night I took The Banana for a little stroller ride. I wasn’t planning on hiking, so I didn’t even have my backpack along, just the trusty ancient single jogging stroller (which is the best to hike with anyway). We got near the creek, and I heard it just roaring, so we had to get up close and personal. The water was absolutely exploding down the canyon. It was such a sight to behold, and then to realize all the creeks and streams along the Lake Superior watershed were doing the same thing! I was so sorry I didn’t have my camera. Today all the kidlets and I went back down for a hike. The water was still moving fast, but it wasn’t as violent as yesterday. I’m sure that things were extra swollen because of a rain we’d had the night before. Anyway, we’re forcast to get a lot of rain over the next few days, so I will definitely be waterfall hunting!
