Dying Easter Eggs

The crew dyed Easter eggs this afternoon. Chaos. It was so exciting to stir those eggs around in the jars with absolute zeal. And impatience led to a lot of mess, even for a mess-lover like me. Phew. While all the activity was going on, The Banana was in the ergo backpack on my back (translate: somewhat cumbersome) and every time I’d turn around to the left of the sink she’d grab a few finished eggs out of the carton where they were drying and the dye would drip down my shirt. Amazingly, we actually only broke one egg when Mr. Sneaky Pants dropped one into the jar before I could assist him. After taking the photographs, I blew out the inside of the eggs and we had scrambled eggs for supper. (I knew it would be WAY too traumatic for the small artists if I used hard boiled eggs and peeled them for supper, so I opted for scrambled instead . . . I’m so grateful The Banana didn’t throw one of those raw eggs at the back of my head).

What you don’t see in the pictures are the three fits by Sarah while I was getting the eggs ready because she was so impatient to start and wanted to make sure Mr. Sneaky Pants didn’t start before her. You’re also missing images of the pushing and shoving that took place after the eggs were finished because everyone wanted to have a nose close view of the finished product. The pushing and shoving led to more fits after all involved were sent to their rooms for mandatory play-by-yourself time.
