Winter Forest

Because I was feeling a little cooped up today, after The Banana and Mr. Sneaky Pants woke up from their nap, I decided to take them for a sled walk. We walked down to one of our favorite hiking trails, and into the forest for a short while. It was so amazingly beautiful. We’ve had a lot of snow recently; in fact, it was snowing as we were walking, and I do so love snow. Esepcially in the forest. I didn’t go far down the trail because it travels down a steep hill, and I knew that coming back up the hill was not going to be a piece of cake. And it wasn’t. Two kids in a sled is a lot of weight to pull back up a steep hill, not only through the forest but on the mile-long walk back up the hill to our house, too. And of course, by the end of the occasion they were quite done (especially since I made Mr. Sneaky Pants WALK up the very steepest parts). They whined and complained a lot, but I was still really glad I’d gone.

While we were in the forest we met a cross country skier who was being pulled down the hill by her husky dog! She was really picking up some speed! It was pretty funny to watch.

This picture is so crisp and detailed in real life. Here it looks fuzzy and dull. If you click to see it bigger it’s a little bit better, though.
