Snow

Snow!  We had three major snowstorms/blizzards within the time span of one week.  The first lasted two days and gave us 14 inches of wet, heavy snow.  The second was a fast and furious deal that left us 6-8 inches overnight.  The third was a more drawn out affair that brought us 18 more inches Thursday night.  These pictures were taken at the beginning of that storm, and let me just say that at the end of it, we have a lot of snow sitting on the ground, since in many places we still had a very significant amount of snow pack from our snowy March on the ground before last week even started.  It’s a crazy and ridiculous amount of snow!

There are some people that are frustrated about this snow, and some people in our neighborhood who simply haven’t put away their cross country skiis and are having a wonderful time traversing through the forests.  The snow is beautiful and wondrous, and although many people look out their windows and say, “It’s pretty, but it would be a lot prettier in December than in April,” I really like snow anytime.  And this snow has been warm, sticky snow, which is so gorgeous on the trees, and doesn’t blast you with its subzero nature because the temperature is just on the border of freezing, not cold at all.  (Only 20 degrees colder than the inside of my house!)

There is something a bit warped about my personality and my love for precipitation.  I just love vast amounts of precipitation.  Even when it rained so much that there was a major flood in my city last year, I STILL liked the sound and smell of rain.  Even when we get copious amounts of snow at the end of April, I still love snow! Part of my just wants it to keep snowing and snowing and snowing!  However, when it eventually finally melts, I will enjoy the sweet green grass that is to come as well.
