Weekend Cousin Extravaganza

Guess who came to visit for the weekend!  We were so excited to have Auntie Dot and her family travel to our house.  The arrival of Cousin Alex and “Kuh Kuh Kuh Kuh!” was greatly anticipated by Mr. TOF.  He loves his cousins, and with good reason.  Altbough the visit was short, we squeezed in a lot of fun:  a trip to the park, lots of playing outside in the backyard in the cold and windy weather, yummy meals together, a trip to the children’s museum, toys, toys, toys (especially trains!) and some splashing in the bathtub.

At the museum, Mr. SP, The Banana and Uncle Don built some great styrofoam cars powered by balloons.

The Banana dressed Katherine in a lovely black cape, and she wore it all morning and went everywhere in the museum.  It was a busy place!  There are so many great things to do there.  Cousin Alex played for hours at the train table and had fun building a ball track on the magnetic wall.  It’s always fun to play on the giant purple bicycle boat, and we built things with blocks and planted the garden next to the castle.

Mr. TOF discovered the banking station, and that’s where he parked himself for the morning.  He had a delightful time playing with money, writing checks and giving me and Auntie Dot loans.  We would take the money, walk around and then come back to deposit it.  At the banking station there was a calculator and a phone with lots of buttons.  He was having so much fun pretending.  I loved watching.

YaYa created lots of art work, and then we got to see a rocket launch and learn about the space station and amateur radio communication.  It was a fun filled morning and everyone came back home ready for lunch and monster naps.  (Except Katherine, who was not excited about sleeping).

Alex really wanted to paint, and I was all ready to make a big mess outside on the easal with big paper, but it was just too cold and windy to make that work, so we managed to squeeze in some watercolor painting in the office in between supper and needing to pick up YaYa from a fantastic birthday party for her good friend.

There were board games for grown ups and big kids after little kid bedtime, and a batch of granola and moving muffins were cooked.  Auntie Dot, Uncle Don, and the cousins had to leave on Sunday morning after breakfast, which made the visit all too short, but it was still great to have them.  Mr. TOF was hopping mad when he got home from church and realized that his cousins had vacated the premises.
