Double Digits.

Mr. Sneaky Pants requested Swedish Pancakes for breakfast in the bathtub.  His siblings were not complaining about the menu, because who doesn’t love a stack of Swedish Pancakes?  No syrup needed.  They are delicious as is. That said, I’ve never known any of my kidlets to pass up syrup when it is presented.  We did not, however, bring syrup into the bathtub.  I’ve been around the block a few times at this point, and I know what chaos syrup in the bathtub would be.

YaYa was a little grouchy about having to get up an hour earlier than normal for breakfast.  She survived, however.  Breakfast was a rapid affair, because several people needed to use the toilet.  (They went downstairs to the basement bathroom).

After breakfast there was the usual early morning present opening, followed by a rush to pack lunch boxes and get bundled up for the bus.

Mr. SP arrived back home in the afternoon, along with a few extra birthday treats from his classroom that didn’t get used up.  He picked Jell-O for his birthday treat to share with his classmates.  There are a lot of rules about what can be brought for birthday treats, the most important one being that it has to be packaged from a store.  Jell-O was a good choice, and kind of special around here because I never make Jell-O.  I’m a terrible Jell-O maker.  I know what you are thinking . . . everyone makes Jell-O, right?  The instructions are right on the box.  I’ve NEVER been able to get a box of Jell-O to turn out, and I gave up years ago.  It’s not too much of a loss, because I don’t think Jell-O is packed with a lot of nutritional value, although it is wonderfully fun to eat.

Side note:  Mr. Trouble on Feet did not even know what Jell-O was before today, and he was quite impressed when he got to have a leftover container for after school snack.

After finishing up some homework, Mr. SP had the afternoon to himself while I taught piano lessons.  He put together a new LEGO set and read a good book, both of which are some of his favorite things to do, so he was a pretty happy guy.

Pizza was on the menu for supper.  In particular, the pizza came from a place that uses a lot of sauce, which Mr. SP likes.  There were also breadsticks that also came with sauce.  Mr. SP declared that no vegetables would need to be eaten at his birthday feast.

The pizza was followed by chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting, also a special request.  Around here the homemade birthday cakes never look quite right, but no one ever seems to really complain about how they taste.
Best of all, the person having a birthday always gets to skip evening chores.  Since Mr. SP really hates evening chores, this was a splendid end to a busy Monday birthday celebration.

It looks like the day was a good one, hope his card reached him. I thought of him all day. Tell him Gramma Robbie thinks he is old enough and can quit growing now.
