Warm Fall Night

I’m super behind on blogging what we’ve been up to.  A week ago on Sunday the weather was so warm it was practically hot.  Actually, it was hot!  After lunch I considered doing the work I needed to do, but then I looked out at my hammock hanging under the yellow leaves of the crab apple tree, and decided to read a book and enjoy what would probably be the last really warm day of the year.  I was lazy all afternoon and read a great book from cover to cover.  There hasn’t been a lot of time to do personal reading lately, so I really relished in my book.

The middle kids spent the afternoon with neighbors at the beach, and the other kids did various activities outside at home.  In the evening our neighbors at the top of the hill invited the neighbors half way down the street and us to sit outside in their yard, which has a beautiful view of the lake.  We ate supper and visited, and the kidlets played with yard games and on the playset.  After it got dark they played some night games and we sat by the fire.  It was pretty glorious.
My friend who is an amazing baker brought cookies to share.  She is famous for her cookies.  To get a second cookie, one of the dads made the kids under age 10 answer some mental math questions.  They were quick to answer and even quicker about taking their cookie.
