Fistfuls of Money

One of the best things for the kidlets about visiting Grandma Robbie and Grandpa Ron on this trip was being able to navigate the short trip across the driveway to visit Old Gramma Jan on their own. Believe me, I could hardly keep them away from Old Gramma Jan because they just LOVED going across the driveway all by themselves to see her.  The visits were short, but frequent.

Their fervent desire to visit Old Gramma at all times of the day, I suspect, had a lot to do with how she showered them with gifts upon their initial visit the evening we arrived.  Old Gramma had saved a collection of unique small boxes for Ya Ya, the cardboard queen, which kept her busy creating, taping, cutting and constructing for days.  In addition there was a loud whistle for Mr. SP and some movie star sunglasses for The Banana.  However, the ultimate experience that just put Mr. Sneaky Pants and The Banana over the moon was when Old Gramma Jan said they could have an envelope and grab a FISTFUL of money from her change jar.  A fistful of loose change for my money-loving garage sale children was better than pirate treasure in a buried chest.  They were giddy, and then she said they could actually have TWO fistfuls.  She’s a very popular Great Grandma around these parts, let me tell you.

The fistfuls of money in their respective envelopes have been tucked away for garage sale season, the start of which is a HIGHLY anticipated event here.
