Toasters: Out with the Old, In with the New

As luck would have it, right after I wrote that post a few weeks ago about how we’ve had the same toaster for 17 glorious years, our toaster died.  Well, actually it almost caught on fire.  Someone put down a piece of toast, and unlike Mr. TOF, instead of running around the house and counting to eleven, they walked away and forgot about their toast.  Soon the whole lower floor of the house was filled with thick blue smoke.  (The scent hung around for days).   While there actually were not flames leaping out of the toaster, it didn’t take much to deduce that flames would probably be the next quick step, and since I’m really actually quite afraid of fire, I decided that this was it for that good old toaster.

When Mr. SP came home from school, Dr. Peds handed him a screwdriver and told him that since we were getting a new toaster, he could dismantle the old one.  He had a wonderful time taking it all apart.

Now we have a new toaster.  Like the old one, it has slots for four thick slices of bread.  Unlike the old toaster, it actually toasts them to perfection without super careful monitoring (or running around the house and counting to eleven).  Hooray!
