Estuary
Last Thursday night, on the recommendation of a fellow musician and an article in the local newspaper, the three youngest kidlets and I attended an opera performance. Our local opera company is terrific. I love that we have a local opera company.
This opera was written by two amazing, well known, local authors and one local musician. The opera was about Signeur Duluth “discovering” Duluth, and it was absolutely goofy. Uproariously funny. It was so completely quirky and executed so very well that the four of us were in absolute stitches the entire performance. Really, my stomach just hurt at the end from laughing so hard! Truly hilarious stuff.
YaYa was sad to have had to miss, but she was off volunteering at Bible camp.
The kidlets LOVED this opera, Tres Uncomfortables. It’s not a “kid opera” but they totally got it, and the best part is that they’ve been “movie quoting” this opera for days.
The opera was held in the middle school auditorium on the other side of town. The middle school was recently built, and it has an amazing view of the estuary for the St. Louis River. We had fun looking down at all the bridges, docks, and lights when we left the auditorium. Humorously, the word “estuary” played an important part in the opera, so that was kind of fun too.
