First Day of School

Tuesday was the first day of school.  Mr. TOF headed to first grade.  The Banana settled into her last year of elementary school (Wah!).  Mr. SP began seventh grade, and YaYa started tenth grade.  We have kids in three different buildings.

The first day of school was COLD and windy.  When the elementary kids left for the bus stop it was drizzling and sunny at the same time, and kind of miserable, except that the light was gorgeous and we ended up with a perfect, full rainbow right as the bus pulled up.  I think the rainbow calmed all the nervous moms.

These two were standing on a little slope in the yard, which exaggerated their already very different heights.

The first week went pretty well, but it was really exhausting, even for me who wasn’t going to school OR teaching.  Truth be told, I had a little nap every day, which makes me a bit nervous for this next week when I will be about 30 times busier and will have no time to take a nap! The Banana and Mr. TOF had a few naps too.  It’s just hard to get into the swing of the routine again.

The Banana and Mr. TOF both have really great teachers that they are very excited about.

Mr. SP was calm and chill about his second year of middle school, and took advantage of not having as much homework the first week by heading to the library as often as possible after school.

It’s nice that it’s not YaYa’s first year of high school anymore, so at least the building and expectations are more comfortable. She had a few stressful days that also had good parts,  but by the end of the week things were going a little more smoothly I think.
