Camp Aunt Rachel: A Visit to the Tower

When Cousin Katherine was visiting, all the kidlets dressed up in costumes to visit the tower.  Dressing up to visit the tower was something my kidlets loved to do when they were little, and when I mentioned that it might be a fun activity for Camp Aunt Rachel, all four of them were all over the idea.  Cousin Katherine wasn’t sure quite what to think at first, but she did have a lot of fun.  The girls decided to wear finery, and the boys decided to be villains.  The big kidlets stayed in character the whole time they were dressed up.  In the end, the big kidlets might have had even more fun than the littlest cousin.  It was a hilarious afternoon.

There weren’t many people around at the tower when we arrived because unfortunately right as we parked the car it began to rain and drizzle.  The people that were around, however, didn’t know quite what to think.  Or where to look. Heads were turning.  When I took the group pictures you see above, someone was actually behind me taking pictures of the strange sight.  (The kidlets thought this was really funny).  An older gentlemen said to his wife, “Do you think they trying to be Peter Pan?”  She replied, “Maybe they are from a play?”

They ran up the tower.  They ran down the tower.  They ran around the tower.  Then they ran through the park.

On our way home we stopped at a little library we had driven past to get to the tower.  It was definitely one of our favorite little libraries we have encountered yet, decorated with Dr. Suess, Harry Potter and other wonderful fantastical literary themes.  Hilariously, right as we stopped the car and opened the van doors, a car came around the corner, and when the car saw the crew that was climbing out of the van, they swerved nearly all the way across the road, and then slowly, slowly continued driving on.

That’s us:  stopping residential traffic.

Oh, my word, this brings so many smiles to my face, I love, love, love it and all the imagination it took. Nothing but wonderful memories made for that little girl, and your kids.
