Applesauce

The applesauce is made! We were blessed with three totes of apples from a friend’s apple tree along with a couple of bags of apples from other friends and neighbors, which made for a lot of applesauce! Over the past two weekends I spent many hours cooking and straining apples, and ladling sauce into jars for the freezer, which is now filled to the brim. Making applesauce is always a time consuming project in the fall, and I often wonder why I’m bothering, but then I remember how incredibly happy a jar of fresh, homemade applesauce makes me feel on a bleak midwinter day in February, and I’m always so pleased that I did make the applesauce after all.

Your Grandmother would be proud, never forget how she brought you applesauce instead of flowers at your concert in college. Great memory!
