The Devious Snail Celebrates a Decade and a Half
The Devious Snail had a very chaotic birthday. He arrived home just hours before his birthday started from a very long day at a robotics competition/workshop, and he was majorly exhausted the next day. It didn’t stop me from waking him up in time for breakfast in the bathtub before church. The menu was: pie. I didn’t really want it to be pie, because . . . BREAKFAST! But he pointed out that Great Grandma Lolly always served pie for breakfast to make people happy, so I went with it. He specifically requested pie from the Rustic Inn, which thankfully I could purchase at the COOP grocery store, but unfortunately because it was right before Thanksgiving, everyone had pie on the brain and the selection was rather sparse, so I ended up purchasing pie by the slice. It’s standing room only in the bathtub these days.
After a quick present opening, we were off to church. It was also orchestra concert day, so we left church a little early to get his sisters to their dress rehearsal. After we dropped them off, Mr. TOF and I treated The Devious Snail to lunch at one of his favorite restaurants. He happily filled his stomach and then asked if I could drive him home for a nap before the orchestra concert since he was so tired from his long day before.
Mr. TOF and I headed to the concert, and on the way home I dropped Mr. TOF and The Banana off at choir rehearsal, and came home to make a birthday cake. The eldest two siblings were goofing around and completing homework while I baked a cake.
She might be older, but she’s definitely not bigger anymore.
We had a birthday supper in courses: chicken fresh from the grocery store was the first round of food, followed by a pasta salad, and then birthday cake and ice cream.
All day long I kept starting to give the Devious Snail things to do, only for him to grin and remind me that it was his birthday. He took a lot of pleasure in that, along with some extra time playing games on the iPad.
Dr. Peds was in New York for a conference, so he called right before bed and caught up on the events of the day.
