My Family Visits

My family came to visit over the weekend!  Even my brother came.  I was excited to see all of them, but I was most especially excited to see my nephew, Jack. I think he is probably the most adorable creature to ever walk the earth.  He’s just hilarious.  A ham.  He even blows kisses and grins while he’s doing it.  He’s mellow.  He’s calm.  I just wanted to scoop him up and keep him at my house permanently.

My mom and Auntie Jennifer spent a lot of time cuddling with Squirmy.  He was happy to be held.

The Banana loved her Grandpa.  And Grandma.  She especially liked telling Grandma that she liked Grandpa best.

On Sunday, while the men were golfing, we took Auntie Jennifer, Jack and Grandma for a short hike at Lester Park. I ended up taking quite a scenic route to get from my house to Lester Park because I didn’t realize that Seven Bridges Road was closed, but I didn’t get us too terribly lost, and both babies had a little nap driving in the car.  Jack tried out the Ergo.  He liked it.  He was so sleepy, but his eyeballs just didn’t give in and he remained awake, even while the big cousins were playing on the playground.  Squirmy napped in the Moby wrap.

I didn’t get a picture of it, but Jack loved chasing Brutus the cat. It was the cutest thing I may have ever seen.

We went swimming in Grandma’s motel.  The big kidlets had a marvelous time leaping and kicking and twisting in the water, of course.  Mr. Sneaky Pants was so excited to jump off the deep side of the pool and swim to the ladder all by himself.  The Banana had a great time swimming with Grandma in the shallow end.  Jack tentatively sat on the steps to the pool with my brother and played with Grandma Robbie.

He liked blowing kisses to Grandpa, Squirmy and me at the side of the pool, and he loved it when we clapped for him.  I was having so much fun with him that I mostly forgot to take pictures of the other kidlets swimming.

We ate pizza, swam even MORE, and then had a mini pre-birthday party for The Banana with ice cream cake and presents from Grandma Robbie and Auntie Jennifer.  The Banana thought that was spectacular.  Dr. Peds cut the ice cream cake with his Swiss Army knife.  Grandma Robbie fed Jack a bite of ice cream cake, but then Dr. Peds decided the tyke really deserved his own piece on his own plate.  Jack didn’t necessarily want to eat the cake, but he had a wonderful time trying to get it on his fork and painting his shirt ice cream.

When the party was over, there were many exhausted children, ready for bed.  The visit was too short, but it was very fun.
