Camp Aunt Rachel: Session 2 (Swimming in Lester River)
This summer the road to our very favorite little swimming hole is closed, which means to get there you have to hike in a good three miles, and we simply haven’t been that adventurous. Instead, we’ve been frequenting a different but still excellent swimming hole that is more popular and busy, but not too busy.
When Cousin Nathaniel came to Camp Aunt Rachel, we headed out to do a little swimming. Or maybe I should say that these two boys did a lot of swimming. In fact, they were having so much fun that we stayed all afternoon, and they literally jumped off rocks into the water for 3.5 hours straight.
They had so much fun that we actually went back again another day later in the week.
At the end of the day Cousin Nathaniel was looking a little fatigued. I looked over at him and noticed his eyes looked a bit glassy, and he had slowed down considerably. They next thing I knew, he had put himself to bed and was sound asleep without me even telling him that it was bedtime. That’s what 3.5 hours of jumping off a rock and swimming back to the edge of a swimming hole will do to you.
