Camp Aunt Rachel: Session 2 (The Secret Beach)

The night before we left home to return Cousin Nathaniel and spend a couple of days at the family cabin, we headed to the Secret beach. Dr. Peds had already left with some kidlets, but we were relishing Camp Aunt Rachel and needed a few more extra hours.

The water at the Secret beach happened to be super duper cold this day, a bone chilling cold, but Cousin Nathaniel really wanted to try to get out to the rock. YaYa told him if he could last floating in the water for thirty seconds, she would get in and swim to the rock with him.

Cousin Nathaniel is a kid up for any challenge, and after a few tries, he was floating in the water for thirty seconds.

In they went, swimming lickety split to the rock. It was too cold to linger, and they made in no time flat.

Cousin Nathaniel was more than a bit excited, even if he was shivering like nobody’s business. YaYa gave him a bit of instructions about how and where to jump, and then demonstrated by jumping in herself. Cousin Nathaniel was not far behind, even if it was a bit scary and intimidating.

One jump was enough. I’m telling you, the water was really, really cold. They swam back and found warmer clothes. Cousin Nathaniel had a good time throwing rocks in the water with Mr. TOF, and when it looked like a rain shower was approaching, we headed back to the car to drive home and finish baking things to take to the cabin.
