During the late summer and early fall season, I have been loving the zinnias growing in the containers on the back deck and next to the mudroom door. They have been so colorful and cheerful.
It seems that most emails these days are about important things to know: communication from school or organizations, clients or students. Email is my love language, and even those kinds of email make me feel loved, but I have been especially appreciating the friendly emails I get these days. My heart just gets happy when I have email in my inbox from people who want to converse. Of course, I’ll take snail mail anytime too! I also love snail mail.
I ordered Modern Art Go Fish at the beginning of the school year for educational fun. We had such a good time playing and learning about modern artists that I soon ordered the Impressionist version, and just last week we added Van Gogh and Friends to our little collection. We just can’t seem to get enough. Each set comes with a little booklet that talks about the different styles of painting and gives a great summary of each artist and their work.
I used to buy a big role of postage stamps so I’d have a lot of stamps and wouldn’t have to worry about having postage on hand. The roles were usually the ordinary American flag postage stamp. Over the past few years I’ve felt decidedly unpatriotic and actually started to feel a little resentful about putting flag stamps on my letters, when I realized: HELLO! I don’t have to buy a roll of stamps! I can just buy a bunch of sheets of stamps all at once. These days I actually do it online . . . even better! I have really been loving the process of picking out interesting stamps to put on my correspondence. And I actually put a little thought into who gets what stamp when I am affixing the postage to the envelopes. It’s kind of fun.
Since so much of our lives seem to be happening virtually these days, Dr. Peds ordered a tripod for the iPad (it works with a phone too), and it has made teaching online lessons so much easier. It has also come in very handy when we are having online music lessons of our own. It’s a heavily used piece of equipment around here.
Although our cat, Brutus, is disdainful and temperamental a great deal of the time, he loves to snuggle up when we are reading, and since reading out loud has become a very big part of the homeschool day for Mr. TOF and I, we get a lot of cat snuggle time.
I have been loving beautiful walks through the forest this autumn season. Autumn just never disappoints.
Looking at things under our new microscope has been a big source of entertainment for me these past few months. The detail in the world is amazing.
