Scenes from Forest Friday
Although it has recently been quite cold, the Friday before last my learning buddy and I headed to the forest on a drizzly, soggy afternoon. We talked to the forest on a quiet gravel road, really there was no traffic, just a few people out walking or running. Still, there is something amazing about how quiet and peaceful the forest turns as soon as you take about ten steps in. Even though nothing was happening on the gravel road, when we wandered onto the trail there was a new sense of silence and stillness. It was a beautiful, peaceful walk, yet full of chatter and observations from my companion at the same time, the best kind of Friday afternoon walk.
Sometimes it is difficult to be motivated to leave a toasty house on a Friday winter afternoon to head to the woods, but I’m observing that it is nearly always worth the effort.
