About Marble

On Saturday we drove up the North Shore to see the beautiful leaves.  On the way, Dr. Peds wanted to stop at Silver Creek Cliff (I think that’s what it’s called) to walk the asphalt trail where the original road had been.  It was a beautiful little walk with a gorgeous view, a very fun stop along the road.  At one point there was a marble bench next to the asphalt trail.  It sort of resembled a marble gravestone slab sitting on top of two large black rocks from the cliff, and overlooked a very picturesque little beach.  The bench was in memoriam of someone.  Mr. Sneaky Pants noticed it right away and was super excited about how shiny the polished stone was.  Dr. Peds told him it was a marble bench.  We continued walking, and on our way back up the trail, Mr. SP and I were walking together.  Dr. Peds had the others with him.  Mr. SP stopped at the stone bench and admired it.

Mr. SP:  And Mom, do you know how this bench was made?

Me:  No.

Mr. SP:  I do.

Me:  Oh.  Well, how was it made?

Mr. SP:  You see, Mom, they take lots of marbles, hundreds and thousands of marbles, and they melt them and squish them all together and it turns out like this shiny flat rock right here!”

He then made plans about how to use all the marbles we have in our house (not very many) to construct all sorts of furniture.
