Vine
When we first moved into our house, I noticed some sticks on the windows in my bedroom. The sticks weren’t attached to anything, but I thought they looked like vine branches, and I felt disappointed that the previous owners probably had torn down vine from the brick exterior of our house. I noticed a few vine leaves way down low at the base of the foundation outside. I wished they would grow up and cover the outside walls of the house. I’ve always admired old houses covered in vine. The second summer we lived hear a tiny little branch of vine appeared on one window upstairs. I was thrilled. A few more branches grew throughout last summer, and I admired them. This summer, however, the vine just took off! It went wild, and I love it. I love the green curtain of leaves on my bedroom windows in the summer, keeping things cool. The leaves make me feel like my house is in a forest, or that there is a giant tree next to the window. I sat much of the summer next to these windows rocking a fussy baby, and the leaves were so refreshing. Now I love them even more as they turn brilliant colors right before my eyes! Hooray!
