Classic Playground Equipment
The kidlets have alway loved classic playground equipment, which has become very rare these days. The last twisty slide and merry-go-round were removed from one of their favorite local parks a few years ago, and they are always complaining. Whenever playground equipment has been replaced at our local parks, they never have liked what replaced it. When we go to visit my parents in North Dakota, they are always excited to try out the playground equipment in the school yard and park that my parents used and I used. It’s the best!
One day while we were visiting we were driving with my mom to Bismarck to meet cousins and friends for swimming, and we drove past the (now closed down) school in the neighboring town next to where I grew up. “Look! A see saw!” my teenagers exclaimed.
“Would you like to stop?” I asked.
“Yes!” So I pulled over and they bounded out of the van, two high schoolers and a college student, and they used the swings, the bars, the see saw, the climber.
I had to teach them the true art of using a see saw: bumping your partner on the ground so they fly up off the seat a little bit. It brought them great joy!
Even Grandma Robbie got in on the fun!
