Some Things I’m Loving
- I was gifted with a giant zucchini earlier this month, and it was so big that I had enough zucchini to make 5 dozen muffins and two chocolate cakes! I was very excited that my friend posted the recipe for her amazing zucchini chocolate cake on her blog. It was so delicious that we made two zucchini cakes in one week! My favorite way to each chocolate cake (or any cake, for that matter) is after it has been refrigerated for a day. Second day cake is always twice as scrumptious.
- In addition to using the laundry shoot as an express way to get dirty laundry to the basement where the washing machine is located, I have discovered recently that the laundry shoot makes an excellent intercom to give instructions to a child or two in the basement from the upstairs second floor of the house. The metal makes my voice echo sonorously, and the racket gets their attention right away.
- I am loving that I have gotten to see several of my music students who were taking lessons virtually all last school year in person these last couple of weeks. It is so nice! Last year about half of my students were in person and half were virtual. This year most of my students are trying to come in person when possible, which is really great.
- I am loving the cooler temperatures after a ridiculously hot summer.
- The Banana is on the high school swim team, and I have been loving getting to watch her try new things and swim new races. She’s pretty versatile. She had never tried swimming long distances before this year, and she and her coaches were surprised that she can just keep going . . . and going . . . and going! Her times for shorter distances are getting faster all the time too. It’s fun to see her excited about swimming.
- I have been enjoying beautiful walks in the forest.
