Robotics

Robotics season is over for the most part, but we had a lot of fun cheering on our very favorite bot. Mr. TOF and I went to our local regional meet (YaYa even jumped in for a bit because she was home from college on a break–it was her first time going to a competition). We watched our team’s matches that we couldn’t see in person on the virtual livestream. In fact, for the last meet that was in the Cities, Mr. TOF just binge-watched robotics ALL SATURDAY. I am not really a fan of binge watching anything (my attention span for watching things on a screen is very, very low) and I rarely let anyone in the house engage in binge watching, but in this case I was busy doing other things and just didn’t feel up to being a responsible parent. Mr. TOF watched ALL the matches and finals even though our robot did not make it into finals. He’s such a competitive nut that he actually had charts and brackets drawn on paper for the different robot alliances and was keeping track of robotic statistics. There has to be some educational merit in that, right?

The Devious Snail was on the drive team for the robot, and they made some nice improvements between their first regional tournament and the second tournament. It’s always fun to be at a robotics meet because there are so many wonderful and interesting robotics fans in the stands, and they get so excited. Plus, it’s a busy place and there is always something interesting to watch. As The Banana noted, “It’s like a giant sporting event without any exercise, where the contestants eat as much junk food as they want.” Well, maybe not everyone eats junk food, but The Devious Snail? I’m pretty sure he had a nice supply of junk food.
