Some Things I’ve Recently Learned

  • Frustrated with my go-to Ticongeroga pencils that suddenly seem to be constantly breaking when I use them, I am trying out blue Golden Bear pencils. In the process of searching for pencil alternatives, I came across an interesting article about the history of the pencil.
  • I learned the definition of the word “extant.”
  • At the piano I have been learning some new Chopin preludes. I’ve been working on a number of Chopin preludes for several months now, and they seem to be just the thing for me at this time because my practicing is interrupted so often by Peanut Maximus. Short pieces, easy and intense, are working well.
  • I learned how to care for my new ZZ plant.
  • I’m still learning how to integrate cello practice into my day with a tiny person. When I have been successful, I have been working on learning a new movement of a Vivaldi sonata and a piece by Bach.
