Baby giggles are just THE BEST. I love them in every form. I’ve been charmed by the variety of things that Peanut Maximus thinks is funny, whether it’s my hand about to tickle him, or his big brother making a “Vroom” sound, or kisses on his neck.
Street sweeper season is in full swing in my city, and I just enjoy watching that piece of machinery do its work. Seeing street sweepers out cleaning up all the grime from sanded winter streets is also a true harken of spring around here, which makes them a joyful sight.
I have been teaching preschool music at my church during Sunday School, and two and three year olds with a parachute and giant stretchy band is always a sure recipe for joy and delight.
Peanut Maximus loves the strings of my sweatshirt hoods. Grabbing onto those strings is one of his favorite toys. I love it so much when he falls asleep snuggled next to me with a pacifier in his mouth and his adorable dimpled baby hands clutched around my hoodie strings.
My dad passed away a few weeks ago, which was sad and hard, but getting to see so many of my cousins that I rarely ever get to see at his memorial service was a moment of goodness.
Also, when I was grieving my dad, my friends brought me houseplants and a bag of snacks for our super long car ride back to North Dakota for the memorial service (it was the first time all seven of us traveled in a car together, and my friend knew that snacks would help). I felt so very loved.
Mr. Trouble on Feet spent many months working on his history day project and he did well at the state competition. It was so great to see all that super hard work come to fruition. He’s already thinking about his topic for next year, even though it was SO MUCH WORK.
The Banana was awarded a special leadership recognition at her last choir concert (her choir stops at grade ten), and it was actually really special to be in the audience and hear some of the really neat things her peers had to say about her when they nominated her for the award.
I love going to the symphony so much, and this spring there were several concerts that were just sublime. I enjoyed getting to hear a Rachmaninoff piano concerto (Rachmaninoff is one of my very favorite composers) At a recent concert a guest cellist played Elgar’s cello concerto, and I don’ t think I’ve ever heard a cello sound quite so silky ever in my life.
The golden light in the evening makes me very happy.
During the brown mud season of spring I splurged on tulips from the COOP every other week. Tulips are one of my very favorite flowers, and they just brightened everything up.
