- Giuosco is a music term asking you to play with joy.
- I am in the process of learning how to use our Erg, thanks to my resident rower. I say this loosely. She showed me how to use it, and I used it. Then I forgot to use it for several days, so now I will probably need her to show me how to use it again. I did not row fast. I did not pull hard. I considered just trying to figure out how to make the motion success enough. This is why I am not an athlete.
- When Mr. TOF forgot to bring the symphony tickets I had printed out for him and his friend (even though I literally handed them to him as we were about to walk out the door of the house!) I learned that the box office at the symphony will simply reprint your tickets if you explain to them the situation. What a relief! By the time we got there we did not have time to go back home to retrieve the tickets.
- I learned about the marching band culture at historically black and colored universities. It was super interesting for me, and I knew nothing about it before!
- At the piano I have been working on relearning a big and tricky Bach fugue, a lovely ballad by Brahms that I am just loving, and “Birch Tree” by Sibelius, which is just a neat little piece that isn’t hard but is so fun to play. I also learned viola and violin accompaniments for March recitals and solo and ensemble festival. I am always a nervous accompanist, which means I resort to overlearning that music so I feel prepared for all the catastrophic possibilities.
- Because my clothes dryer is out of commission, I have relearned out to use the dryers at the laundromat.
