The Ball Drops Early and On Time

We were so very excited to attend the Kid New Year Bash up at our neighbors’ house at the top of the hill last night.  It is always loads and loads of fun and excitement, better than any other New Years celebration as far as I’m concerned.  There are noise makers used in a most noisy fashion, silly string, balloons, and tons of little feet hopping on the dance floor under the sparkly disco ball.  Each year there is a spontaneous “tackle the dad” time.  Dr. Peds was picked again this year.  There were about thirty flailing kids on top of him on the floor (and a few collisions, but everyone was fine).  Squirmy was enraptured by all the moving disco lights and all the noise and energy.

As one dad put it so well, “The very best thing about this New Years party is that we can be at home with everyone in bed and sleeping by 10:00 p.m.”  At the Kid New Years party, midnight happens at 8:00 p.m.  Hey, it’s midnight somewhere, right?  There is a very loud countdown backwards from ten, and at the Happy New Year moment, balloons and colorful things fall from the ceiling, and the New Years music is played on the piano and there is a lot of jumping up and down.  It’s great.
