Seven People — One Page

Peanut Maximus met his nature school teachers last week, and to prepare for the school year there were numerous items we were supposed to bring to school, including a family picture. Unfortunately, we have absolutely zero pictures with everyone from the family, because in the past four years, it has been extremely rare that all seven of us are in the same place at once. So, we had to think outside the box a bit, and I asked The Banana if she could possibly illustrate a family picture for us so all seven people could be on the same page. She was all over it, and nailed the assignment! Every person in the illustration is wearing the exact kind of clothes you might see us wearing on any given summer day.
I’m pretty sure we were the only family who walked in with an illustrated version, but the teachers loved the creativity!
Actually, when I look at it, it reminds me so much of the paper dolls my grandma used to make for me when I was a little girl. She would draw whoever I asked and turn it into a paper doll character: real people in the family, princesses, knights, characters from books and fairy tales. I played with those paper dolls for hours and hours on her living room floor.
