Hiking to Rock Knob

Rock knob is such a great easy, relatively short hike:  perfect for a spring evening when you don’t have a lot of time, but your kids need to do something outside.  This is one of my very favorite times to hike in the forest.  There are hardly any bugs, and things are just beginning to turn green in places.  The view from Rock Knob is always fun, but perhaps even more fun for the kidlets is taking a bit of time to tromp through the “spooky forest”  a section of pine forest halfway to Rock Knob.  In the spooky forest there is a stick fort that is fun to visit and explore, and plenty of opportunities to wield a stick like a sword and chase imaginary dragons and monsters.  There are plenty of trees to practice jousting with, and lots of interesting things to explore on the ground.  On this trip YaYa brought a basket to collect interesting nature items.  The Banana brought a snazzy wild cloth bag.  Squirmy watched the action from my back.

I love this last picture. I never notice how much Squirmy and Banana look alike. Fun and interesting place to go.
