Bikes and Baskets

The front sidewalk has been a busy, busy place, bike tires swishing back and forth all throughout the day.  A few measures (otherwise known as consequences administered) have been enforced to protect innocent pedestrians who might also need to use the sidewalk, but for the most part it has been a joyous activity the past few days.  The Banana’s bike has been graced with a new basket.  She is thrilled because the old basket that belonged to YaYa when she was riding that small, tiny bike had broken.  The new basket looks just like the old one, but because it’s her very own it is still a big deal.

I’m thrilled to report that I have a new basket on the front of my bike too!  It came yesterday and Dr. Peds hooked it up to my front handlebars.  It’s a lovely sturdy thing that can hold a jug of milk or a large bag of library books.  In fact, yesterday afternoon I ventured off to the library with a big stack of books in my basket all by myself, and it worked wonderfully.  Steering is a bit different with all that weight over the front tire, but still very doable even for clumsy old me.  I didn’t fall or have a single catastrophe.
