Checking In

I haven’t blogged much in the last couple of days because I have decided to tackle some painting projects around the house that have been bugging me for months, and in some cases YEARS.  For example, Mr. SP”s closet was a horrid blue grey color with icky mauve trim.  It didn’t get painted when the rest of the room got painted a couple of years ago after we removed the terrible elephant wallpaper.  I painted a wall in my basement “grape explosion.”  It’s a brilliant purple, perfect for cheering up someone who needs to go down to the basement.  (Actually Dr. Peds says it makes him sick to his stomach, but it makes me cheerful, and I’m the person doing laundry around here.)  I have hopes of painting my front entryway in the  next couple of days.  The office trim is still waiting, but I might not get motivated to do that for a few more weeks.

it has been revealed that my painting skills are probably just about as sloppy as my sewing skills.  This means I have to touch up and touch up and then touch up the things that dripped when I did the touching up.  It’s really a vicious cycle, and I’m pretty much ready for bed now.

I wish I had a photograph to share with you of me, and all four kidlets piled on the futon this morning.  The Banana and I were singing opera duets.  YaYa and Mr. Sneaky Pants were trying to drone over us about how they hated opera, but we were using well supported voices and singing louder.  In the middle of all of that (it was so noisy we didn’t even hear the phone ring)  Squirmy was absolutely in his element.  He was truly delighted with the biggest family commotion yet.  He grinned and joined right in with a glorious “Aaaaaaaaah” while climbing over all the wiggly bodies like we were a jungle gym.

The was no one to take a picture because Dr. Peds was at work.

Our tulips are gorgeous and lasting forever because of the refrigeration effect of Lake Superior.  The lilacs are starting to bloom.  I love it.

I painted my bedroom lilac and plum. I figured I would hate it within 2 months but I absolutely LOVE it!
