Our Vacation in Lists: Animals Spotted in National Parks
While in a national park, I am a mountain seeker, a waterfall seeker, and a wildflower seeker. I am not so much of an animal seeker, but the kidlets had a great time keeping their eyes open for interesting animals. While traveling in Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons, we spotted:
- One very up close and personal moose minding his own business munching on vegetation near a stream
- Several deer
- A small group of elk
- One coyote late, late at night
- A fox darting across the road
- One grizzly bear ambling about away from the road
- Two black bear Mamas with four baby cubs. One of the babies stood up and waved. It was a hit.
- Several suspiciously tame chipmunks
- An adorable little songbird that hopped right up next to a delighted Banana
- Bison. Bison. More Bison. Bison were everywhere . . . lounging, munching, tromping in small groups and large groups, and one singular bison walked right across the road in front of us. The kidlets loved it.
- Swarms of mosquitos near our lodging facilities. The kidlets were not impressed.
Thankfully I did not see any snakes on the entire trip, which is always nice.
