Random Bits

  • There is currently a huge obsession with the game Go Fish! in our house, which came about largely because our old babysitter Sophie sent a special box of birthday presents our way.  It arrived a few weeks ago, and Go Fish! has provided hours and hours and hours of entertainment.
  • It could be that I’m truly old now.  I spent a large part of the birthday money my mother sent for my thirty fifth birthday on a rice bag that snuggles up on my shoulders.  It’s purple, and handmade, and I got it on Etsy.  It smells nice  and is cozy.  And I’m happy with it.
  • A few days ago Mr. SP told me all about his plans with a classmate to start their own national park, which will center around being a habitat for black rhinos.  They also plan on rounding up red foxes, penguins, an octopus and beavers.  They plan on charging admission, are convinced they will be rich in no time flat.
  • Mr. Trouble on Feet loves his blankie.  He likes thinner flannel blankies, as opposed to The Banana, also a blanket kid, who likes puffy fleece blankies with satin edges.  Mr. Trouble on Feet doesn’t care a bit about satin, but he does like to hold the corner of his blanket in one hand next to his face while he sucks on his other thumb.  And if he’s in a snuggly mood, he likes for me to share his blanket and rub a different corner on my face.  It’s really quite endearing.
  • I am loving getting Christmas cards in the mail.  I am not loving the prospects of preparing all the present-filled boxes to our extended family.  Mailing boxes is such a simple thing, yet such a stressful source of irritation.  Blech.
  • YaYa has been painting and drawing some amazing birds.
  • The Banana spends a lot of time hiding junk mail that she doesn’t want me to recycle under the heaters and beds and couches.  Then I find the stash and recycle it.

I too hate Mailing all those boxes. Lets solve that by NEXT year you come home for Christmas, Conner will be old enough to have fun with. Verleen says I could always buy you a trailer to take the loot back home, you never know it could be arranged. Miss you all so much!!!
