Another Walk in the Woods: Exploding Neighborhood Waterfalls

We’ve gotten lots of rain and a bit of snow over the last couple of days, so while small creatures were napping, I couldn’t resist a quick tromp in the forest with my camera. The creek was storming again, and I just love it! I love that deep thunderous roar of the angry water as it races, determined to get to Lake Superior immediately. It kind of reminds me of a fire truck, only the sound is completely different, of course.

This is a different waterfall, but the same creek. There is something very big about a waterfall that I am just not able to capture with my camera, kind of like giant waves of Lake Superior. There’s something about the motion of water that just doesn’t transfer when you freeze the scene, something that makes you just want to stand next to the waterfall for hours and watch and watch. Maybe it’s the constant rapid change.

And finally, here are some regular forest scenes. I know there are probably a lot of people who are really quite grumpy about this snow (again). But what can I say, I really do love snow, especially freshly fallen snow. And at the end of April, everyone knows that the snow will be gone, probably in a day or two. So, I can’t but help to appreciate it’s stunning whiteness outlining all the trees and contrasting with the mossy rocks, and sprigs of green grass that arrived last Wednesday.
