Decorating Christmas Cookies

On Sunday afternoon we baked cut out sugar cookies and I made some terrible frosting, and everyone decorated a plateful of cookies.

Since I ended up making a lot of cowboy hats and high heeled cowboy boot cookies, I thought it was appropriate to face time Auntie Amy Texas.  She put on her cowgirl hat for us as she peered in on the long distance chaos!  It was really fun to be able to do that.

This little one didn’t get to manhandle any frosting.  Just wait until next year though!  I will use all tactics at my disposal to be the favorite auntie, including being a bit sneaky with sugar.  I know for certain who my cookie decorating partner will be!  Bwah ha ha ha!

This little one DID get to manhandle frosting.  After he decorated his cookies he realized that all the frosting residue on the knives was perfect for picking up some extra sprinkles and eating them.  He was very, very quiet about it so that no one would notice exactly what he was up to.

When everything was frosted and sprinkled, we had to EAT a cookies, of course.  You should have seen the bouncing kidlets after that!  Crazy!  To the chagrin of the other grown ups, I thought it would be a good time to play the piano and everyone helped make some music with drums, shakers, bells, the guitar, sand blocks.  That’s when the other grown ups decided it was time to go to the aquarium and to see the Christmas lights at Bentleyville.  I think they might have been a bit overwhelmed and some of them had a headache.   (No judgement . . . I was overwhelmed sometimes too!)

Oh what great fun and memories those kids are going to have. I would of had to create some noise too, see you are not so different from me. I remember how much fun the kids has a couple of years ago when they decorated cookies at Easter, they had a blast.
