Thanksgiving with Grandma Robbie and Papa

After school on Wednesday we headed out (through some crazy snow) for North Dakota, and after a long, dark drive, finally arrived at the my parents’ farm an hour after midnight, or so.  The next morning excited kidlets were up and bouncing around, giving their grandma hugs.  They’d actually never watched the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade before.  Mr. Trouble on Feet was thrilled with the marching bands.  The big kids liked the parade a lot, but they couldn’t suppress their annoyance about the format of the coverage and all the time devoted to the TV announcers.

Cousins arrived!  Mr. Trouble on Feet parked himself on the kitchen counter to watch his Papa feed cows, the same window that I used to sit by to watch my Papa feet cows when I was little.  More people arrived, and there was eating and cleaning up and lots of energetic kids, all doing different things.

This was the black olive thief.

In the afternoon, some of the boys played Legos at the table.   I love the expression of concentration on their faces!

Auntie Jennifer took The Banana to the bathroom to paint fingernails.  Two small people followed and insisted on colorful nails of their own.

While his big brother conked out on Dad’s lap, Cousin Connor tried to show a skeptical Uncle Tom how the iPhone worked. Connor played until he zonked out himself.

Of course there were leftovers for supper!  By then Mr. TOF and Cousin Jack had stripped down.  They were delighted to be zooming around in their undies together.
