Christmas Scenes: Decorating Cookies before Bed on Christmas Day

We cooked all day and had an enormous Christmas meal for supper when Dr. Peds came home from work.  Well, actually, I’m sure some families had a bigger feast, but there was still a lot of food, and it was downed faster than I could have ever imagined possible.  The almond in the rice pudding was found in Auntie Dot’s bowl, and she won the coveted price of a golden dollar.  As soon as we cleaned up from the meal, we moved on to cookie decorating.  Dot baked all the cookies in advance, and I whipped up the frosting.  All the kidlets got a plate of cookies to decorate at the table.  Exciting!

There were so many amazing techniques.  Some people drizzled frosting on carefully.  Mr. TOF drizzled layers of frosting on top of layers of frosting on top of still more layers, which created a thick puddle effect that was actually quite beautiful, not to mention sugary.  Other people spread the frosting on in a thin layer.  Some people used sprinkles.  Others did not.  Some people dunked the whole cookie in the frosting bowl to maximize the amount of frosting available on BOTH sides of the cookie.

Halfway through cookie decorating, we were thrilled to Skype with the Iowa Cousins.

There’s always a lot of crazy face-making when skyping with the Iowa Cousins.  It was so fun to see them and talk to them at Christmas.
