Kayak

It’s that time of year when my yellow kayak is a permanent fixture atop the van, ready any time the Lake is cooperating and my husband is on hand to extract it from the top of the van and load it back up.    The kidlets laugh about being able to spot our van in any parking lot at any time:  just look for the floating yellow kayak in the sky.  Near the end of last week we were in the middle of a sweltering heat wave.  Dr. Peds got home from work, and even though we were headed out the next day for our annual family cabin trip, we loaded everyone in the van and headed down for a spontaneous evening at the beach, where people could chill in the icy water, and where I went for a long solitary kayak ride down the shore toward the bridge.  The air was a mixture of hot and humid and refrigerated drafts wafting up from the super cold Lake water.  Refreshing.
