At the Cabin: Miscellaneous Scenes Part 2

He was NOT a fan of my camera!  In fact, every time he saw me with my camera he turned his back to me and screamed.  It  was so funny I had to take some extra pictures of him just to amuse myself.

I’m starting to wonder how many thousands of pictures I will have of my son sticking out his tongue by the time he goes to college.

Here are five  of my favorite things about the cabin this year that are not documented in images:

1.  I loved getting to go on small kayak rides with The Banana and Mr. Trouble on Feet, who used kayaks that stay at the cabin and are better sized for kids.  Usually when I’m on my kayak I’m by myself, and it was really fun to spend time with my kidlets while kayaking.  They were great paddlers.

2.  I always bring a tote of children’s picture books to read to the little people, and it was fun to sneak away with a little one or two for special reading time.  I love that my little nieces and nephews enjoy listening to stories.

3.  Pie.  We ate some amazing pie.

4.  It was really fun to see how cousins can bring out the bravery in my kids.  For example, Mr. Trouble on Feet would have never ever ridden in a tube behind a jetski without his cousins, but because there were two tubes hooked together, it was a really exciting thing to do with a cousin.

5.  YaYa, at the age of 13, has conquered her fear of campfires and now roasts marshmallows.  Hooray!
