To The Rescue: A Dip in the Big Lake

For the first time ever, last Saturday when my parents were visiting, one of the kidlets, Mr. Sneaky Pants, to be exact, accidentally dropped his shoe in Lake Superior.  The tumble down happened off a large rock, that jutted into the water, and although the wind was calm and the waves were miniscule, the floating croc took off out to sea at a pretty rapid pace.  Within seconds it was far out of reach, headed for a private swath of beach in the distance.

Mr. Sneaky Pants was highly distraught, understandably so, as it was one of the shoes he constantly wears, and he doesn't handle unplanned circumstances well even on the best of days.

Luckily, though, my gallant, dashing husband took it upon himself to extract all the valuables out of his pocket and wade out to his waist in the frigid waters.  That didn't do the trick, so he ended up swimming in his clothes out to the shoe, retrieving it and drip drying in the evening sun.  What a guy!
